Sunita Devi, a 32-year-old woman from Barkagaon block in Hazaribagh, always wished to support her family financially but lacked opportunities and formal skills. Her household depended entirely on seasonal income, making it difficult to meet daily expenses and her children’s educational needs.
The turning point
Through the Guru-Shishya Hastshilp Prashikshan Programme conducted by Muskan Foundation, Sunita received training in traditional block-print handicrafts under experienced artisans. She learned dye preparation, block-printing techniques, fabric finishing and product presentation.
A new beginning
After completing the training, Sunita began creating handcrafted products from home and participating in local exhibitions and fairs. Today, she contributes to her family income independently and has gained confidence, respect and financial stability.
She now inspires other women in her village to become self-reliant through skill development.
