At Muskan Foundation, we believe that access to health information, preventive care, hygiene, and essential healthcare services is fundamental to a healthy and dignified life. We work with rural communities, adolescents, women, children, and senior citizens to promote health awareness, encourage preventive practices, and improve understanding of available healthcare services.
Through school-based programmes, community awareness campaigns, health check-ups, sanitation initiatives, and collaborations with healthcare stakeholders, we strive to build healthier, better-informed, and more resilient communities across Jharkhand.
Eight ways we care for community health
From adolescent health in schools to safe water in villages and care for the elderly, each programme is built around prevention, awareness and access.

Reproductive & Sexual Health Programme for Adolescents
Muskan Foundation implemented a Reproductive & Sexual Health Programme in government schools across Hazaribagh district, with support from Zones Corporate Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
- Conducted teacher training on reproductive and sexual health for adolescent boys and girls.
- Organised basic health check-ups for more than 200+ adolescent girls.
- Distributed over 150+ sanitation kits to adolescent girls across two schools.
- Conducted health-awareness rallies involving students and community members.
- Promoted awareness of physical and emotional development, personal hygiene, and healthy practices.
The programme helped adolescents gain a better understanding of their health and encouraged informed discussions about menstrual hygiene, sanitation, and well-being.

Community Health Awareness Programme
Muskan Foundation has conducted community-level health awareness activities to improve understanding of common health concerns and encourage timely access to healthcare services.
- Organised awareness sessions on leprosy, including its symptoms, prevention, and control, in collaboration with Primary Health Centre staff in Barkagaon block.
- Promoted awareness of HIV/AIDS and blindness-related health concerns.
- Conducted awareness activities concerning maternal and child health.
- Encouraged early recognition of health problems and consultation with appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Disseminated health information through community outreach and awareness sessions.
These activities aimed to strengthen community knowledge of disease prevention, early identification, hygiene, and available healthcare support.

Tuberculosis Awareness, Treatment & Control Support
- Supported community-level health awareness and information dissemination.
- Contributed to initiatives addressing tuberculosis treatment and control through the documented collaboration.
- Promoted awareness of healthcare access and the importance of appropriate treatment.
- Supported broader community health, nutrition, and rights-awareness initiatives.
The partnership formed part of the Foundation's broader efforts to improve community health awareness and access to essential services.

Drug Abuse Prevention & Awareness Programme
Muskan Foundation has undertaken drug-abuse prevention and awareness initiatives to educate young people and communities about the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and other addictive substances.
During FY 2024-25, the Foundation conducted an awareness programme among school students in Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum, in collaboration with the district administration.
- Sensitised 250+ students to the physical, mental, educational, and social consequences of substance abuse.
- Organised an anti-drug awareness rally with students carrying educational placards and messages.
- Encouraged participation in sports, yoga, education, and other healthy activities.
- Promoted the message: “Say No to Drugs and Yes to Life.”
- Encouraged students to spread preventive awareness among their families and communities.
The initiative sought to strengthen preventive awareness among young people and encourage healthier, substance-free lifestyles.

Health, Nutrition & Care for Senior Citizens
Muskan Foundation manages a Senior Citizen Home in Hazaribagh district, providing residential support and care for elderly persons, particularly those who are vulnerable, neglected, or without adequate family support.
- Provides residential care and a safe living environment for 25 senior citizens.
- Arranges regular health check-ups and access to essential medicines.
- Provides nutritious meals and attention to residents' dietary needs.
- Maintains access to care staff and support services.
- Encourages recreational activities, exercise, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
- Facilitates referrals to local hospitals when additional medical attention is required.
The programme supports the dignity, safety, physical well-being, and emotional health of elderly residents.

Sanitation, Safe Water & Hygiene Awareness
Muskan Foundation has participated in community mobilisation initiatives addressing safe drinking water, household sanitation, hygiene, and responsible water use.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission awareness initiative in FY 2024-25, implemented with support from Jan Jagran Kendra, the Foundation used street theatre (Nukkad Natak) to communicate important water and sanitation messages.
- Conducted awareness performances across 234 villages in East Singhbhum district.
- Promoted safe drinking water, proper use and maintenance of household tap connections, and water conservation.
- Disseminated information about hygiene and community participation in village water and sanitation committees.
- Encouraged women and young people to participate in local water-management efforts.
- Worked with community stakeholders to communicate water and sanitation messages.
The initiative aimed to improve understanding of safe water practices, household hygiene, and community responsibility for water and sanitation services.

Maternal & Child Health Awareness
As part of its community health initiatives, Muskan Foundation has included maternal and child health awareness among the health concerns addressed through its outreach work.
- Promoted awareness of maternal and child health concerns.
- Encouraged families to seek appropriate healthcare information and services.
- Integrated health education into broader community-awareness activities.
- Supported awareness relating to child well-being, nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare.
These activities form part of the Foundation's commitment to improving health awareness among families and underserved communities.
Leprosy Awareness & Early Identification
Through awareness camps conducted with Primary Health Centre staff in Barkagaon block, Muskan Foundation addressed leprosy-related health concerns within rural communities.
- Shared information about the symptoms, causes, prevention, and control of leprosy.
- Encouraged awareness of the importance of timely medical consultation.
- Promoted access to accurate health information through collaboration with healthcare personnel.
- Encouraged informed community responses to disease-related concerns.
The initiative sought to improve understanding of leprosy and encourage preventive action and appropriate healthcare-seeking behaviour.
